Tonight I saw Army Of Shadows. I had mixed feelings about it. It has a pretty simplified view of history. I know this because the lovely old man who sat two seats away from me told me, and he had such a nice face I had to believe him. He told me the truly great film about the resistance is Louis Malle's Lacombe Lucien. So I will find that and track it down. This one was slow and long, and for a thriller it wasn't so thrilling, especially when we're used to cameras now that can zip and steadicam all over the place. Having said that it definitely had something. The story was interesting, and I definitely want to know more about the characters. It made me realise that my ignorance about some parts of history is astounding.
My ignorance outstrips your own, which should not make you feel better at all.
